to honor Annette’s memory with a commemorative plaque in the new Mary Lincoln Garden at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
On behalf of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mother, Annette Hahn. We are truly honored that, in her memory, your family has chosen to support the ALPLM in lieu of flowers.
Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful memories of your grandfather, Harry Hahn. His dedication to portraying President Lincoln—and the deep reverence your entire family has for Lincoln’s legacy—is truly inspiring. Annette’s lifelong admiration for President Lincoln clearly lives on in the stories and passion you’ve shared, and we’re honored to help celebrate that legacy in a meaningful way.
Annette’s connection to Abraham Lincoln through your grandfather, Harry Hahn—whose portrayal as a Lincoln actor I imagine left a lasting impression—embodies the kind of legacy we strive to preserve and share every day. The Hahn family’s ties to Lincoln’s story are a meaningful tribute to the values of history, education, and storytelling that are central to our mission.
We would be privileged to honor Annette’s memory with a commemorative plaque in the new Mary Lincoln Garden, set to open this July. It would be a lasting tribute to her life and your family’s enduring connection to Lincoln and the ALPLM.
The Mary Lincoln Garden Gala: History in Bloom will take place on Saturday, July 12th at 10:00 AM at Union Station, directly across from the Museum. This is when we’ll be formally unveiling the commemorative plaque in honor of Annette and the Hahn family as part of our new Mary Lincoln Garden—an outdoor space that will be open to the public and dedicated to history, beauty, and reflection.
The plaque will be placed outdoors within the garden space, offering visitors a serene spot to enjoy Lincoln history and recognize the individuals and families who have made it a lifelong passion. We would be honored to welcome your family to the event and can also coordinate a private time for the family to gather and reflect if that would be meaningful.
Your family's story adds such a personal and powerful dimension to this garden, and I have no doubt visitors will be touched by it for years to come.
If friends and loved ones wish to make a gift in Annette’s honor, contributions can be made online through our secure donation portal:

Please include a note in the Additional Address section indicating the gift is in memory of Annette Hahn and recognizing the Hahn family's contributions to preserving the legacy of President Lincoln.
Please know how grateful we are to be included in this tribute. Annette’s legacy will continue to inspire visitors and serve as a symbol of dedication to history and heritage. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I’ll be following up in the coming weeks with additional details, including the official invitation to the garden gala and a summary of the thoughtful notes and contributions made in Annette’s honor. Once again, thank you for sharing your family’s remarkable legacy—it is truly an honor for us to help preserve and celebrate it.
With deepest sympathy and appreciation,
